Moonfrost takes place in a world where giant chunks of rock-hard mineral rain down from the sky which doesn’t pair well with peoples’ homes and buildings!

As a FROST hunter, players are provided with a special device that allows them to construct walls, floors and place Decorations seemingly from thin air, aka Build Mode.

Build Mode can be unlocked by progressing through Moonfrost’s Primary Tasks and can only be used on the Homestead (for now!)

Players can activate Build Mode (when available) by pressing the B hot-key or via the Smartphone.

Panning / Zooming

Players can move the camera around freely whilst Build Mode is active with either WASD or by moving the cursor toward the edges of the screen.

When a player exits Build Mode, regardless of where the camera has been panned to, the camera will snap back to where their avatar was when they activated Build Mode.

The camera can also be zoomed in and out with the MOUSE WHEEL.

Placement Grid

The Placement Grid appears when Build Mode is active.

When placing Decorations, such as Furniture and Structures, they will snap to the Placement Grid and display how much space will be taken up by them.

If a Decoration cannot be placed on to the Placement Grid because another object is obstructing it, the area of the Placement Grid beneath the object the player is attempting to place will turn red, indicating it cannot be placed them.

Grid Height

Players can change the height of the Placement Grid whilst Build Mode is active with the UP and DOWN hot-keys or by clicking on the appropriate UI.

This allows players to place Decorations at different heights which is especially useful when it comes to tackling multiple stories.

The default height of the Placement Grid is 0.

Structures

Players can place Doors, Stairs, Windows, Walls and Flooring while Build Mode is active by clicking on the Structures icon located on the Build Mode hot-bar when Build Mode is first activated.

From there, they can choose which type of Structure they wish to place.

When placing Structures, the Structure currently selected is displayed on the HUD and can be changed by opening the respective Structure Inventory, which can be accessed by either pressing the TAB hot-key or clicking on the HUD element that displays the currently selected Wall/Flooring.

Doors will open/ close automatically when a player approaches or moves away from them.

Walls and Flooring can be placed by clicking and dragging, which allows players to place lines of wall. Flooring can be placed individually with single clicks or placed over larger areas by also clicking and dragging. To undo an intended placement, players can click/drag on Walls or Flooring that have been placed down.

When placing either Walls or Flooring, the total cost of the placement is displayed on the left-hand side of the HUD, showing the items required to construct what has been placed, how much of said items the player owns and how much of said items are required. When a player does not own enough of a required item, it is highlighted red.

However, if a player does own the necessary items, they can confirm the placement of Walls and Flooring by clicking the CONFIRM Button located on the HUD after Walls or Flooring have been placed. The CANCEL Button can also be clicked on to undo all Walls and Flooring placed.

Structure Inventory

The Structure Inventory contains all Structures (i.e. Walls/Flooring/Doors) that the player has crafted and can be accessed whilst in Structure placement mode.

Unlike the Inventory, the Structure Inventory is infinite.

Additionally, unlike the Furniture Inventory, Doors/Windows/Walls/Flooring do not need to be crafted elsewhere before they can be placed via Build Mode.

Demolish Mode

Demolish Mode allows players to remove Decorations from the game world and can be accessed via the Build Mode hot-bar when Build Mode is first activated.

While in Demolish Mode, players can click on Furniture or Structures to select them, causing them to become highlighted in red. Players can confirm their selection by clicking the Confirm Button located on the HUD.

When Furniture is removed, it is returned to the player’s Furniture Inventory.

When a Structure is removed, it is destroyed and a partial refund of the items required to originally place it is returned.
